Food & Livelihood Support

Nourishing lives and restoring dignity

Food insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges facing vulnerable communities around the world. Peace Matters works to address both immediate hunger and long-term poverty through integrated food and livelihood support programmes rooted in Islamic values of compassion, justice, and shared responsibility.

Our food support initiatives provide essential nourishment to individuals and families struggling to meet their daily needs. This includes food parcels, emergency rations, and nutritional assistance designed to sustain families during periods of hardship. In Islam, feeding those who are hungry is a highly regarded act of worship and a reflection of sincere faith.

Allah says
in the Qur’an:

وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
“They give food, despite their own need for it, to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.”
(Qur’an 76:8)

Beyond emergency food aid, Peace Matters is committed to restoring dignity and independence through sustainable livelihood support. Our livelihood programmes focus on empowering individuals and families with the skills, tools, and resources needed to earn a stable income. This may include vocational training, small business support, agricultural assistance, or other income-generating opportunities tailored to local contexts.

Islam encourages self-reliance while emphasising social responsibility. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that earning through honest means and supporting one’s family is a noble act. By investing in livelihoods, we help communities move from dependency towards resilience and self-sufficiency.
The Qur’an reminds us that
wealth is a trust and that within
it lies the right of those in need:

وَفِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ لِّلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ
“And in their wealth is a recognised right for the one who asks
and the one who is deprived.” (Qur’an 51:19)

Peace Matters delivers food and livelihood programmes in partnership with local organisations to ensure cultural understanding, fairness, and long-term impact. All donations are treated as an amanah, a sacred trust, managed with transparency and accountability to maximise benefit for those most in need.

Through food support and sustainable livelihoods, Peace Matters seeks to uphold the Islamic values of generosity, dignity, and justice, ensuring that families are not only fed today, but empowered to build a stable and hopeful future.
